Project overview

Situated in Gloucester, Hartpury University provides further and higher education in the agriculture, animal, equine, sport and veterinary nursing sectors. Home to over 4,000 students, Hartpury University understood the necessity to provide EV charging facilities to its growing number of students and staff.

Aside from providing a convenient place to charge, Hartpury University also wanted to further their ESG score by incorporating more sustainable measures. An organisation’s ESG score is a numerical measure to signify it’s performance on a wide range of environmental, social and governance topics. The deployment of EV chargers increases an organisation’s ESG score based on the promotion of tackling environmental issues.

EVC were introduced to Hartpury University to provide a charging solution to meet the University’s needs. During this consultation period, it was decided that the installation of EV chargers would be split into phases. The first phase would consist of the deployment of 17x 22kW dual socket chargers and 1x 22kW single socket charger to supply 35 EV bays. This would ensure that the current number of EV drivers on campus would always have a place to charge whist working or studying.

The second phase consists of deploying smaller EV charging hubs across the estate. This would include an additional 16 EV bays across various locations to give wider access to an EV charger. Future phases are also planned so that the University can increase the number of chargers on site in line with students and staffs adoption of electric vehicles.

Hartpury University opted for EVC’s Management financial solution. This solution means that the University purchase the EV chargers, and all installation and ongoing management is conducted by EVC.
