EVC partner with Sussex Wildlife Trust to support local sustainability initiatives

Our ESG commitments underpin the way we operate at EVC, so we are delighted to announce our new partnership with Sussex Wildlife Trust (SWT). By partnering with Sussex Wildlife Trust, we’re able to make a positive impact on sustainability issues that extend beyond our core operations, allowing us to approach sustainability at EVC in a more holistic way.
Who are Sussex Wildlife Trust?
Sussex Wildlife Trust champions wildlife and natural places everywhere in Sussex, inspiring people to take action for nature. The charity want Sussex to be a home for nature’s recovery – where people and wildlife can thrive together, and where people have access to the natural world and to the wellbeing benefits nature provides.
By working alongside local people, they create opportunities to connect with nature, and for nature to thrive in even the most unlikely places. Their work ensures that future generations living in Sussex will be able to enjoy the sense of wonder and well-being that nature offers.
Sussex Wildlife Trust are also part of a wider national movement of 46 other individual Wildlife Trusts that cover the whole of the UK and the Isle of Man and Alderney. The Sussex Wildlife Trust was formed in 1961, and is now the largest local organisation dedicated to protecting the wildlife and natural environment across Sussex.

How are we getting involved?
As a society, we face many challenges when it comes to environmental sustainability. Our business operations at EVC actively contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions produced through vehicular travel in the UK. However, sustainability encompasses more than just carbon emissions – protecting wildlife and nature is crucial as well. By working the Sussex Wildlife Trust, we can now actively support an area of sustainability that our operations don’t currently focus on.
Whilst we already offer employees three paid volunteering days per year to support charities of their choice, our partnership with SWT presents us with even more opportunities for hands-on involvement. With the option for parents at EVC to get their families and children involved in nature with SWT outside of working hours, this is a partnership that extends further than just the workplace! These volunteer days will provide meaningful ways for our staff to make a tangible positive impact on the nature surrounding us, through taking part in important conservation work on reserves and supporting the local wildlife and community.
In addition to facilitating wildlife conservation, SWT are supplying us with resources to help ‘green’ our office, making EVC a more sustainable place to work. Providing education on topics such as the importance of recycling and the positive impacts of wildlife on wellbeing will help both our people and our local environment to flourish!

Taking these steps to care for the natural environment and make our office greener helps to cement sustainability as a top priority within EVC’s culture. Through collaborating with Sussex Wildlife Trust, we’re given more avenues to involve all of our people in preserving the wildlife around us, actively supporting the conservation and protection of our local natural area and doing our bit for the planet.
