Workplace EV Charging Scheme: Create a Greener Future for your Business

Electric Vehicle (EV) charging facilities are in high demand at workplaces in the UK, with over 1.5 million electric cars registered as of the end of November 2023. With most people spending around a third of their day at work, it is the ideal place to charge up for EV drivers, and a great way for your business to show a commitment to sustainability and its employees –  a study by Gallup revealed that 71% of employees take into account a company’s environmental track record when choosing an employer.

What is the Workplace Charging Scheme?

The Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) is designed to encourage businesses and their people to adopt EVs, whether personal or fleet, by offering financial support for the installation of EV charging. It’s open to eligible businesses, charities, and public sector organisations in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

If your business meets the applicant and site eligibility criteria, the grant could cover up to 75% of the total costs of the purchase and installation of EV charge points, up to:

  • £350 per socket
  • 40 sockets across all sites per applicant

You can apply online here, and if successful, you will be issued with a voucher code that can be given to any OZEV-authorised commercial charge point installer – including EVC.

The scheme is open to all businesses, charities, and public sector organisations, but you must have dedicated off-street parking spaces for staff or fleet use in order to qualify.

There are range of benefits to providing workplace EV charging, including attracting and retaining eco-conscious talent. With the Workplace Charging Scheme, you can now do so without breaking the bank!
