5 Questions with: Manjit Notay

Manjit Notay joined the EVC team this month as the new Chief Technology Officer, so we sat down with him to discuss his thoughts on the growing EV industry, where he sees it going in 5 years and his proudest accomplishment so far.

What is your professional background?

“My previous role was the head of digital transformation at DHL Parcel UK.

I was leading some exciting projects which accelerated their digitization journey, in particular a brand-new parcel booking and management channel – an industry first in design and delivery.”

What excited you about joining EVC?

“I have a technical and engineering background and the EV industry is the perfect marriage of all the things that excite me – that being cars, engineering and technology.

Some interesting challenges need to be solved. It’s not just about charging the cars; we also need to modernise the infrastructure around power delivery and create meaningful integrations and long-lasting partnerships. This will further accelerate innovations in technology and for me being part of that journey is truly exciting.

The team and culture are equally important to me and after meeting the folks at EVC it was clear that the passion for success and customer excellence is ingrained in everything EVC do.

Where do you see the EV industry in the next 5 years?

“From businesses feeling the pressure to reduce their carbon footprint, to government schemes motivating EV purchases – this industry is one that is very active and constantly changing.

In the next 5 years the electric vehicle will be something of a norm, and I believe the focus will shift to making life with an EV as frictionless and easy as possible, this means a greater emphasis on charging, easy payment models, EV maintenance and even gamification especially in corporate fleets.

I would say one thing is a certain, the future is very bright for the EV industry.

What is your proudest accomplishment?

“Passing my CCIE first time, for those that do not know - this is a hands-on technical exam done at Cisco’s labs in Brussels, it takes on average 2-3 attempts to pass this crazy exam.

However, my proudest accomplishment is my family 😊”

Who would be your 4 ideal dinner guests?

1)  Virat Kohli – a cricketing legend that has (constantly) re-invented himself and a massive source of inspiration to me,

2)  If it was possible, Nikolai Tesla – I’m sure he knew all about EV’s back then,

3)  My wife – well, why not!

4)  Jazzy Jeff – I love to DJ, and to me, he is the best of them all.
