4 reasons why your business should install EV chargers

As we move closer to 2030, when the sale of new petrol and diesel vehicles will be banned, more motorists are making the switch to electric. In fact, it is projected that there will be around 11 million EVS or hybrid vehicles on UK roads before the end of the decade. (https://www.local.gov.uk)

So, what does this mean for your business?
It may not be in the forefront of most business owner’s minds, but installing the infrastructure for electric vehicle charging (if you have the right location to do so) will be extremely valuable now, and especially so in the future.

Have a look at our reasons to install EV charging and future proof your business.

1. Attract a new group of people – EV drivers
Having accessible EV charging will attract a whole new group of people. A government report shows that over half of young drivers are likely to swap to electric within the next decade. (https://www.ons.gov.uk)

As it stands, there are not enough EV chargers on the roads to support this, so now is the perfect time to have EV charging infrastructure installed at your business. Having the facilities for somebody to charge their vehicle could be the difference between them visiting your business, or visiting somewhere else! Which leads us to the second reason…

2. Boost your revenue
Depending on the type of charger being used, you can increase valuable dwell time at your business. People will often grab a coffee or some food, visit shops or other leisure facilities whilst they charge up. If your business has these amenities, then installing EV charging is an excellent way to increase your revenue as people spend whilst they charge! This obviously depends entirely on the type of business you run and the amenities available, however this can be a key selling point for many businesses when they decide to install EV chargers.

There is also the opportunity to generate an additional stream of revenue from the EV chargers themselves. If your business is well situated, the likelihood is that you will get increasing numbers of EV drivers using your charge points. The more usage, the more revenue your business could benefit from.

3. Be an environmentally conscious business
In the current climate crisis, it’s important as a business to do your part for the planet. If more businesses make EV charging accessible for their audiences, then people will feel more comfortable making the switch to electric. As the increased popularity in EVs has been fairly recent, there is a need for improved charging infrastructure alongside this. One of the main reasons people avoid buying an EV is because of concerns about the availability of charge points. By installing EV charging at your business, you can help reduce this fear and ultimately encourage people to feel confident switching to electric and help save the planet.

4. Finally - avoid the EV charger rush:
Over the coming years, the number of electric vehicles on the road will start to overtake the number of petrol and diesel ones. We are at the tipping point where businesses need to have EV charging installed if they want to continue to attract visitors, whether that is staff or customers. We recommend avoiding the rush in the future and having EV chargers installed now – make sure you are ready for the EV revolution!
