5 Questions with: Jat Bansal

Jat Bansal recently joined the EVC team as the new Chief People Officer, so we sat down for a chat about what excited him about joining EVC, where he sees the industry going and importantly, who he would invite to dinner?

What is your professional background?

“I’ve spent 13 years scaling high performing, mission driven companies across Consulting, Banking, Internet businesses and Fintech sectors. I have also had the pleasure of running my own recruitment business for a period of time.

I have grown businesses from 100 - 2000 headcount across UK, Europe and the United States, and enjoy working with people of all backgrounds. I look forward to working closely with the EVC team to grow our business to one of the best EV brands in the industry!”

What excited you about joining EVC?

“Where to begin! I am hugely passionate about cars, technology & disruptive innovation. The EV sector is one that will transform the way we all experience transport in the near future, what an incredible chance to play a small part in this revolution to power a more sustainable way to travel.

I am even more excited about my role itself.  Where EVC is relatively early stage, I am excited to help the business grow by design; with a focus on people, culture and value.  Something that is incredibly rewarding to do from the ground up as opposed to working for a larger business.”

Where do you see the EV industry in the next 5 years?

“I believe we will see an exponential boom in EVs on our roads; from fleets, cars and motorbikes.

Recent car sales trends, government regulations and the need for a more sustainable way of travel are all in favour of a rapidly expanding EV sector.

I also think we will see a huge uplift of more affordable EVs in the UK market from the likes of Korean & German brands to rival Tesla and in turn we will see a much stronger second-hand EV car market within 5 years, almost certainly.

The biggest pressure will be infrastructure across the UK; making it a great opportunity for EVC to contribute.”

What is your proudest accomplishment?

“Without a doubt my proudest achievements are my two daughters, Esha & Ruby.  Second to that…joining EVC of course!”

Who would be your 4 ideal dinner guests?

1)  Dave Chapelle  – so many great comedians, but I think having Chapelle at dinner would be a blast!

2)  David Goggins – an ex-Navy Seal, ultra triathlete, public speaker, and author. Incredibly inspiring and motivational.

3)  Marcus Aurelius – Yes, the former roman emperor who preached a stoicism philosophy.  So many questions for him.

4)  Elon Musk – Needs no introduction but would want to talk about his multi planet strategy!
