5 Questions with: Gurpreet Dhamu

Gurpreet Dhamu recently joined the EVC team as the new Chief Commercial Officer, so we sat down with him to discuss why he chose EVC, where he sees the EV industry going, and his proudest accomplishment so far.

What is your professional background?

“I worked at Dell Technologies for 7 years in various senior roles, managing their sustainability services business across the EMEA region. Prior to that I worked at a dataserv group (a pan European provider of IT managed services) as an alliances director.”

What excited you about joining EVC?

“I want to make a small contribution in making the world more sustainable – we only have one planet earth and each of us has a responsibility to ensure we contribute to taking care of it, essentially for the survival of humanity. Assisting people in moving from emission producing modes of transport to a more renewable and cleaner form will play an immediate and important role in moving towards a more sustainable world. EVC have the most aspirational team in the industry, and it is a pleasure to be a part of this group.”

Where do you see the EV industry in the next 5 years?

“I see the EV industry essentially becoming the 5G equivalent in the clean energy sector – frictionless EV charging solutions will be readily available at convenient locations where people need them most.

What is your proudest accomplishment?

“Apart from my family, I would say it is each time I am able to help an individual or group of people achieve something that is important to them. On a personal level, probably being brave (or stupid) enough to jump out of a rusted plane at 10,000 ft in the air – nothing makes you feel more alive than being so close to death.”

Who would be your 4 ideal dinner guests?

1)  Jordan Peterson – although at times maybe controversial, a brilliant mind with the skill to portray complex ideologies in a simple way,

2)  Denzel Washington – my favourite entertainer and an absolute master of his craft,

3)  Ray Dalio – A true oracle of macroeconomics and a believer of living your life with valued principles – something I totally agree we should all try to do each day,

4)  Sadhguru – a spiritual yogi mystic from India with a wonderful alternative view of life and how to live it.
