3 ways to make a change this Earth Day

Climate change is an issue that is always at the forefront of people’s minds in modern day society, but what are we doing to effect positive change? Can individual acts make a difference? Is it down to governments to take action? Truthfully, it’s a collective effort from world leaders right down to your individual efforts which will make the difference in ensuring the sustainability of this planet for generations to come.
So, what can you do to help?
This Earth Day, we have put together 3 changes you can make immediately to play your part in having a positive effect on climate change.
Switch To Electric
Over the past few years we have already seen a change in behaviour from the UK public when it came to choice of vehicle. Many people have already ditched traditional petrol and diesel cars and made the switch to electric vehicles, with over 495,000 EVs registered on UK roads as of the end of March 2021 according to Next Green Car.
EDF state that over a year, just one electric car on the road can save an average 1.5 million grams of CO2. That’s the equivalent of four return flights from London to Barcelona. So make your next car electric and join the UK’s fight against climate change.
Switch Off
You don’t have to make drastic changes to make a difference. Sometimes it can be as simple as taking a break from your electrical devices. Turn off your mobile phones, laptops, television and make the most of the fleeting English summer by taking a walk and enjoying the outdoors.
Avoid Single Use Plastics
The UK Government’s latest figures estimate that five million tonnes of plastic is used across the country each year.
You can make a difference by opting to use companies who actively promote using recycled materials for packaging as well as taking your own bags to supermarkets. There is a multitude of alternatives to single use plastics, it’s simply down to wanting to make a positive impact on the planet.
Little things make a big difference.
